The wonders around us

A territory renowned for its natural and historical-artistic features that it offers to all those who decide to visit it. It takes very little indeed to take a dip in its history. Calliano, the town in the center of which the hotel stands, is located at the foot of the limestone hill on whose summit rises Castel Beseno, the most imposing fortified structure in the whole of Trentino Alto Adige.

It is a massive inner curtain of lunar bastions, erected in the first half of the 16th century by the Trapp counts. On the walls of the castle are visible traces of frescoes depicting a courtly pictorial cycle of the international Gothic current, of considerable interest.

Moreover, given its position, from the Hotel Aquila it is easy to reach both Trento and Rovereto, cities with unmistakable styles both characterized by a rich and stimulating artistic and intellectual tradition.

Trento, for example, offers tourists, visitors and the curious a mix of tradition and modernity that few provincial cities can offer. A visit to the city can only start walking through the streets of the city center. A medieval pearl that still preserves splendid painted facades and offers picturesque alleys for those who take the time to visit it without hassle.

Here stands the cathedral, an authentic masterpiece of architecture, second only to the famous Buonconsiglio castle. An ancient manor built close to the city center, in whose halls you will experience a journey back in time, between antique furnishings and frescoes of rare magnificence.

A visit deserves without a doubt also the very modern MUSE museum , the museum of science and technology that rises in the suggestive frame of the neighborhood of the Albere , of recent construction. Through a path strongly linked to the peculiarities of the territory you will discover the secrets of science , being able to touch them and experiment them with your hand. A real must, especially if you want to offer your children an experience they won't easily forget.

In Rovereto, on the other hand, the highlight is undoubtedly the MART, one of the most lively and well-known contemporary art museums in Italy. Here temporary exhibitions of great interest take place, as well as cultural events of great standing. Do not miss the war museum and the museum dedicated to the futurist Depero. While if you want to go in search of the traces of the prehistoric inhabitants of this area, you can visit the area of the Lavini di Marco.

For those interested in history there is the "Historical War Museum" from which the "Bell of the fallen" is reached. La Campana was baptized with the name of "Maria Dolens " and plays every evening for the fallen of all wars.

The climb to the Malga Palazzo on Mount Scanuppia is considered the most challenging climb in the world. A definition justified by an average gradient of 17.6%, which reaches a peak of 45%. Despite the ban on transit due to road conditions, many people face it on foot, by bike or on a motorcycle.

Bicycles

Calliano is in an excellent position for bicycle lovers. From our Hotel at about 10 minutes of ride, the cycle path is easily reachable, which for 90 km winds between the north and the south of Trentino.

The landscape is suggestive and equipped with numerous refreshment points that allow the cyclist to rest and admire the splendid vineyards and orchards of the Vallagarina along the Adige river. The hotel offers garage for bicycles, a work bench and tools for repairs. In the area there is one of the most extreme climbs in Italy, it is the Scanuppia coin 2 km from Calliano.
